Wow, just found out today that John’s cousin Leila has passed away. John’s half sister Julia has announced it on her Facebook and has also thanked Yoko who offered support to John’s family during the time. This is a big change for me to see Julia praising Yoko because in the pass she has made it known that is she not that fond of Yoko. I think this shows along with Julian and Cyn that the Lennons are coming together and have moved on from the pass. She even has wrote a few “Thank you’s” to Yoko on her twitter.
It may sound dumb but I feel so sad about Leila. From reading books her and John were close when they were younger and she was always to me almost more of a sister to him. It made me even more sad to realize she actually named her son John.
She is in peace now and her family will always have their memories.
Below is what Julia has written on her Facebook.
“Dear Everyone,
I have been absent for some time, I know..but there is a reason…a very good reason for this.
If you have read my book, you may remember some of our family.. including our lovely, beautiful, generous, kind cousin, Liela, who was taken into The Royal Hospital in Liverpool in early March. After a long struggle, Lovely Liela died at the beginning of May and was cremated in Manchester on Wednesday. We are devastated, as you will know, from your own sad experiences, or our natural empathy.
I would just like to say to you that the hospital staff were absolutley wonderful. Dr. Shama was the resident doctor in charge of Liela’s care. He was kind, caring, understanding. He understood Liela and fought the battle with her. All the nursing and care staff were of the same high calibre. We hear so many woeful tales of careless caring, that I want to say a heartfelt thank you from me and my family…who inundated Ward 2X, sleeping on the floor, eating, drinking endless tea and coffee brought by the care team. When I moved in, along with her son John, we slept on pillows beside Liela, then memory foams and extra piloows and blankets arrived, followed by a reclining chair, toothpaste and toothbrush..I could not praise their unquestioning kindness and caring attention to Liela..and to us.. enough. Thank you all there. You all have the vocation.
And I want to thank Yoko, on behalf of our whole family. When it seemed that Liela may have been be able to come home, to John’s home, but needing private 24 hour nursing, Yoko offered to pay. As simple as that. Thank you Yoko.
